Garden Visit at Oasis Cottage

Oasis Cottage is a five-acre country garden in Oxford, North Canterbury, developed and maintained by Steph and Laurie.

The garden combines formal structure around the 1898 villa with more relaxed planting as it moves out into the wider property. Visitors can explore the garden at their own pace, from the more formal gardens around the house to the orchard, productive garden and newer areas of planting that continue to evolve across the property.

Oasis Cottage is currently recognised as a 3-star garden by the New Zealand Gardens Trust. We continue to develop and refine the garden ourselves, so repeat visitors will usually find something has changed.

New for 2026/27, your $15 garden admission includes a Garden Season Pass.

Visit once, keep your pass, and you can return at no further charge on any of our advertised Garden Open Days throughout the 2026/27 season.

The garden changes considerably from spring through summer, and into autumn, so we hope you'll come back and experience it at different times of the year.

Your Visit

Garden visits are self-guided. A map is provided on arrival, leaving you free to explore at your own pace and spend as long as you wish in the areas that interest you.

Allow about 1–2 hours for your visit, though you're welcome to stay longer.

Tickets: Purchase online in advance or pay at the gate on the day.
Admission: $15 per person.
Children: Under 15s are free.
Opening: Selected days from October to March. View our Garden Open Days for current dates.
Refreshments: Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits.
Parking: Free parking available.
Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please keep them under control — and out of the flower beds!
Accessibility: Please note that the toilet is not wheelchair accessible.
Season Pass: Included with each $15 admission. Passes are issued to individual visitors, are non-transferable and expire on 31 March 2027.

Plenty of places to sit are available throughout the garden, and a small selection of plants may also be available to purchase on Open Days.
